Billabong SG5 Wetsuit – Product Review

by brando on May 3, 2010

billabong sg5 wetsuitWinter is fast approaching and it is time to pull the rubber out and suit up for the colder water temps. I surfed the NSW South Coast on the weekend and had my first wetsuit surf of the year. I was fortunate to borrow a new Billabong SG5 302 steamer for the weekend and give the suit a few test runs. Well, first thing I did today was check my bank account and see if I can afford to upgrade my old wettie for the SG5.

I have never felt so flexible in a wetsuit and couldn’t believe the comfort level. No water leaks into the wetsuit, probably due to the zipperless design with comfort over the head velcro seal. I haven’t been in the market for a new steamer for a while, given we only get a few months of cold water on the north coast. So my excitement with this wetsuit may be somewhat exaggerated due to the gap in quality between this SG5 and my current wetsuit. Regardless, it is a 5 star wetsuit, I want one, I need one.

Hi Brando,

I to have experienced what can only be described as the pleasure suit SG5 by Billabong. It is true that the technologies and materiels have improved greatly giving us the ability to enjoy the frozen delights of winter in harsher extremes for longer than before thus enjoying the passion that runs deep in our veins all year round.

The only problem with such advances and reviews is that the more surfers that discover these secrets the more we’ll see in the line up this winter……perhaps a more scathing review was needed.
