Billabong Pipeline Masters – World Title Scenarios

by brando on November 30, 2009

The Billabong Pipeline Masters is fast approaching with the contest period starting 8th December. The comp only needs 4 days to run however has a competition window of 12 days in which the event director can pick the best days.

After a sensational season of surfing, it will come down to two Aussies to battle it out for the 2009 world title. Here are the scenarios that would need to occur to see whether Parko or Fanning take the title:

- Fanning finishes 33rd through to 9th, Parko will need a 3rd or better to clinch it.
- Fanning finishes 5th, Parko needs a 2nd or better to win.
- Fanning finishes 3rd, Parko needs to win the event to overtake.
- Fanning finishes 2nd or better and he will win the 2009 World Title.

If you are like me and getting pumped for this event, then check out this taste of what you can expect from the Billabong Pipeline Masters.

Don’t forget the former triple crown winner Bede is still in with a chance if the mighty CK’s stumble on their last hurdle. All predictions are for ‘historic’ swell to hit the island which will open the gate to anyone brave enough to paddle out!!
